A time I have felt my community become united was during the memorial for a passed student. The whole town was invited, not just the school, to come to the football field and mourn together. I have lived in many states and towns and have never experienced something this close.

The future is not ours to see. You cannot predict the future or alter it. This suggests that the book adheres to the belief of fate. I think she chose the bicycle to go around NY and play the song to remind people that everything is how it should be. While the strings portray how long you will live, you cannot make that any different, no matter what you plan to do in life.

If someone I knew had a short string and I witnessed the fight in the book, I would feel a little angry that the 3 boys were talking down to those with short strings. I would have called the cops to be safe and then tried to talk to the boys, but I would not want to escalate the situation to be physical.

My priorities would include spending time with my family and pets, traveling/camping at cool places, and doing art projects. Though in reality, I feel like I wouldn't end up doing much more than I already do.

Yes, I believe the short stringers are similar to other minority groups because they are commonly discriminated against. They should stand up for their rights, especially because they will die before others, so they should be able to have a job and live life with less struggle.

Hank jumped in front of a bullet. This act was very selfless, but in his situation, where his string is already very short, I would most likely do the same. I would want to die with a reason if my death were going to happen soon. By knowing when you die, you can have a small choice of how you might want to. While I feel Hank did not think this way, I would like to protect others more because of my short string.

Hank witnessed a mom and daughter in the hospital, the child was sick and the mom was scared if the kid would die. So she looks at her daughters string and finds she would live but doesn't tell the kid. This relates to how I would use my own child's string for good. If it was a life or death situation and I was worried I would open the box out of care not violation. I believe telling them why I opened it is important

Hank decided to wait a while before opening his box. He was torn between opening and not opening the box. Being a doctor, he has seen most outcomes. His string was short when he opened it, and he then regretted it, quit his job to spend his last few months traveling. He didn't want to tell others/burden them. He wanted to forget about the bix. "He was angry at his string." Compared to others, he felt little emotion.

I believe miracles do exist to a point. Examples of a miracle in my life could be when I was kicked in the thigh and nothing broke, or when my grandpa had a heart attack and had no lasting damage.
