the prose is extremely inelegant; it’s so blatantly dumbed down (especially from a human rights lawyer who used to work at the UN) that it must be a ploy to portray her as the salt of the earth and to distract from her complicity as a wealthy Facebook senior staffer. it’s egregiously bad. she’ll write, “I was like, ‘TK,’” instead of “I said, ‘TK.’” distractingly horrible

Jess she’ll also start sentences with “Like,” out of the blue for no apparent reason other than to appear relatable. i hate this weird, laid-back, “i’m just like you” tone she’s trying to strike. and i hate this broader trend of dumbing down prose to cast a wider net of readership; at this point people who require prose like that haven’t picked up a book in years so let’s just abandon that demographic altogether
