it’s always an interesting experience starting a new book, getting used to the author’s voice & style. there’s something very elusive about caleb azumah nelson’s writing. i cannot get myself to describe it in just one word yet, but it’s mystic and special.

i love when a writer infuses their work with existing art to encapsulate who’s their character — it’s so intimate to explain yourself through the work of someone else and caleb azumah nelson has a phenomenal taste too (have had on repeat kelsey lu’s ep ever since it was mentioned early in the book).
