"[the newborn babies] stay awake, watching the lights and the costumes and the stripes on the tents, strangely alert for being only a few hours old" ok we get it they're manic pixie twee babies. But I think Mrs. Morgenstern maybe actually just doesn't know that babies CANT see after only a few hours. Certainly not past a foot.

"seven minutes before midnight, Winston is born. Seven minutes after midnight, his sister Penelope is born." It's giving,, googled how far apart twins are born and choosing the most twee number in between...
