Bingham is distinctly Reformed in his approach in a way that I may buck at once in awhile. And yet, I am loving this book. He is truly irenic and charitable while pushing for a distinctly Protestant-Reformed approach to SF centered on "keeping the heart." His defense of the term SF was very helpful, and neat to see from his perspective. Excited to keep reading. Also Talbot, Kyle and Coe have gotten nice shoutouts!

I am super excited about this book! The tone and content of the intro is making me really excited to keep reading. Although I will say, reading yet another book on spiritual formation without a deep integration chapter on life in the local church is disappointing. I think the integrated practices church life in non-Protestant traditions is a huge part of their draw. We need to offer the Protestant alternative.
