If it time skips one more time to 200 years ago imma skip my foot up this book’s ass

Writing a story about a woman who exits out of an emotionally abusive relationship whilst also living through the death of her world and all the people she has ever- known planet of the apes style, who then enters into this strange, disturbing world and learns to take some increment of power from it, then turning it into a manifesto about how COOL and STRONG and BRAVE the main male character is… it’s a choice.

Why, in every one of these books, does it take the female (usually) love interest getting kidnapped for the guy to realise he loves her? Putting aside the fact that they’ve known each other for a WEEK so they really aren’t able to love each other— it shouldn’t take your loved one getting out in danger for you to realise what they mean to you. Just saying.

Really enjoying the fact that the author’s macguffin to get out of having the two leads actually reconcile is getting her kidnapped so that he comes to her rescue (like literally every other book like this) so that they make up without having to actually solve their VERY REAL AND TOXIC ISSUES.
This is exactly (among other reasons) why I can’t stomach reading romantasy consistently

I find going into this book blind to the rest of whatever tf this series is (bc sorry I’m not reading 9 extra books for the bit) that I genuinely just don’t give a shit about 80% of thjs plot and its characters.

I’ll be so honest I may DNF this bc it’s getting a bit too weird for 6am on a Monday morning ngl

Not to be overly judgemental but some of the prose in this book makes me wish I’d never been cursed with literacy

In some small way it’s actually a consolation that the fae in this book are actually weird and not just like… random men with wings and nerf powers.
