Fabian just told Cornelia goodbye, she left him to go sleep with a movie director in order to maybe get a change at acting they talked about it and they went their seperate ways. That night he went home to that random woman he met the night before when Cornelia left and he ate dinner that she cooked him but then her husband came home and tried to fight him and so Fabian left and went home. Reread beg of last chapter

I’m at the part where Fabian just left the club where he ran into Frau Moll and she was making a fool of herself. Fabian is discussing his disillusionment with work and society and why he doesn’t have ambition. He feels as if he is waiting to be called up to go to war again, a feeling of uncertainty of what’s going to happen to Europe next, what will become of him and his future ? Or Germanys future.
