I remember reading and loving this when I was a kid. Due to the level of violence I think this is more new adult or adult fantasy. It's written quite simply but the themes are grown. As the characters age the writing also matures, its still fairly emotionally immature.

I am super enjoying the reread but it feels very basic as well. Also more romantasy vibes than I remember!
