okay the world building of this series IS problematic but the way the author creates a sympathetic villain that we understand well!! ooo it’s good and nuanced. also low key author has the slightest tendency for surprising suffering/trauma fest or a kids story that came up in the last book too, i still find this prequel a solid flesh out of backstory
