I constantly need to remind myself what time this book was written in because honestly half of what was in the last third wouldn’t have become and issue had they just idk… talked to the woman instead of trying to “save her from things that would upset her” even though she already knows what’s going on. Feels sooooooo dumb and constructed but YOU KNOW 🤡

At this point I firmly believe Van Helsing has escaped from a nursing home in the Netherlands and is refusing to go home because no one ever comes to visit and hear him talk about nonsense so now he has to annoy the Englishmen who’ve not yet realised how demented he is.
