Also, what happened to the park rangers from the first book? Instead we've got Libby the artist and Susan from the fish and wildlife whatever thing. Are we in a different forest, outside of their jurisdiction? Or did the authors forget they existed?

So like, what's the time gap between this and the first book, because suddenly Tiber is pretty well acquainted with Gabriel's brother. And him being a social recluse was apparently NEVER true, because even in book one he was all over town and people knew him... and now we find out he was ALSO a regular at Sam's horse place
