This book is way too long

I miss Lucky's characterisation from the other books, but I guess he's got to GET to a place of comfort and confidence

“Is Lucky your real name?”
“No. It’s Haneul.”
Both men stiffened, but it was Dimitri who spoke in a raspy voice. “Heaven.”
Yep. My real name was just as ironic as my nickname. At least Lucky implied something good might happen eventually. Heaven implied a level of happiness that seemed unobtainable at this point. “Yes. But I prefer Lucky.”

~ Why take that nickname..?

But it was close enough. And that was how I lived my life now. I’d accepted I’d never be happy…but if I could get close to it? To the promise that maybe things might get better?
That was enough.

Each swing brought forth a new memory to torture me.
Dimitri’ s face crinkled in a smile.
His hand cupping my neck as we made promises we wouldn’t keep.
The arguments that escalated whenever we met.
His mouth on Micah’s.
The heartbreak when he spotted me.
The devastation as I walked away.
The hope on his face when he landed on the banks of Hell after a
century apart.

~ Would have liked to see that???

No family ever came forward to claim me, so I went into the system. Weren’t many people lining up to adopt an Asian baby in the early noughties.

So technically I'm spoiled for how this book ends / what Lucky is running from but it's fine. Surely they're chaotic af and not boring
