"He regarded her as she’d regarded the ocean: with equal parts awe and fascination. Like she was both the tempest that sank junks and the gentle lap of water at the side of his houseboat."

Borrowed the audiobook so I could go faster and I STILL feel like my brain is trudging/stumbling through the writing. there's no emotion in the audio dialogue... also Nhika is making so many assumtions that I feel like I must've skipped a chapter or something. But no. She's "never been so sure of something in her life" and it's that a guy she barely knows killed another guy she barely knows. With no evidence.
