It is interesting reading a story that very clearly had the story/math figured out long before any concept of characters. The story is carried very heavily by the plot/science itself and the characters are just devices to tell that story, no one in this story feels real.
I am still very much enjoying it and will be gladly finishing it, it just is odd for me.

I would say it has its good and its bad. I don't normally read sci-fi so I'm not sure if this writing style is normal. I think that the science in the story is very fun and its fun to watch people figuring out how to make the mission work. But so far it feels like all the characters are incredibly shallow, we hardly know even surface level info about any of the characters. They feel like they exist just to progress the science/plot of the story rather than real people dealing with the situations they are in.
