Rereading the chapter on his club “The Redd Foxx Club” aka “Redd’s Place. Chapter 7: “Los Angeles Is a Rotten Town for Nightlife”.

Chapter Eight: Sanford and Son

Re-read Chapter Two "The Funniest Dishwasher on This Earth" Pages 20-24 about REDD’S friendship with MALCOLM X.

And this is the end of the book. Nicely ties up what happened to all of Redd's friends like LaWanda Page (Aunt Esther) and such and ends on what kind of man he was. Complicated, but gifted.

And here we come, to October 11, 1991, the day Jon Elroy Sanford AKA Redd Foxx died. He was 68 years old.

And here we come to #HarlemNights. Redd notorious, NOTORIOUS for renegotiating higher salaries balked at the $250K offer. This coming from a guy who hadn't had a hit in 20+ years (Even though he was still making TONS of money in Las Vegas). After much back & forth with the studio [Paramount] they doubled it to $500K, but he still wouldn't sign until he got his customary $50K bonus. Eddie Murphy paid the $50K himself.

Gee whiz. The end of a tumultuous chapter. Chapter 10: The Way It Is, I'm Still in Slavery, dealt with his "contract dispute" with the producers of Sanford & Son. Fans will recognize those as the episodes where Grady was the star. Believe me the dispute was gotdamn ridiculous. smh.
