The details that this book provides does show an interesting mindset that Anne must have already thought of when she wrote the original series but it’s also unsettling.
Starting the series with a group of humans that have an alien culture already is one thing, reading about how they eagerly headed in that direction is another.
An anthropology of pern would be an interesting read.

Omg, I just heard the names of the colony ships for the first time since I was a teenager and one of them is called the Bahrain, and when looking up it was named that because Anne partially based the plants climate on the county? (Although I still need to find more evidence for this)
That’s so crazy that i unknowingly grew up and moved to PERN.
Also the people in this book act like they’re in a cult.
