That’s so crazy that i unknowingly grew up and moved to PERN.

Also the people in this book act like they’re in a cult.

The details that this book provides does show an interesting mindset that Anne must have already thought of when she wrote the original series but it’s also unsettling.

Starting the series with a group of humans that have an alien culture already is one thing, reading about how they eagerly headed in that direction is another.

An anthropology of pern would be an interesting read.

I’m sorry but is this first story suggesting that the thread is a galaxy wide endemic that is killing planets everywhere like the flood from halo?
