One of the “silver linings” of the infamous Year Without a Summer in 1816, when the eruption of Mount Tambora in Indonesia caused volcanic ash to darken skies, leading to prolonged, gloomy, and stormy weather across the Northern Hemisphere. This historical event brought 4 writers to retreat together confined indoors in Switzerland and challenged to write the scariest story. I currently behold the winner.

I ran out of characters in my update post (🙄🙄 why are there even character limits on posts considering Goodreads is for readers who will likely read many characters in a post. 👹👹) but all I wanted to add was I am currently devouring the winner of this “year without a summer” Swiss author retreat challenge. I know you had the moody dark/rainy stormy weather while writing this classic, but Mary Shelley you are a genius. Anyone who cannot appreciate this classic literature simply went into it with the wrong attitude… or does not understand the subject matter of this novel is at its core. To the reviewers who rated this classic masterpiece 1 star… 🤦🏼♀️💀💀 congratulations. You can hate all you please but we are still talking about Frankenstein and even as of this year creating even more film adaptations (with Jacob elordi 🥰😍). People who hate on classic literature either lack the necessary intellect to digest the text or want attention for being ✨different✨ and having a negative opinion. Prove me wrong 🙂
