Ahhh fuck - everything's unraveling. I feel so bad for Valen (and Gildas! I'm happy that they seem to understand each other though. Loved the "strike me and run" tactic, what a homie)

A bit of a 'women writing men like they think men would write men' going on? It's a bit phallic at times.

I also want Valen to really fuck up his addiction management some time soon. We got kinda close but not enough :)

He's a brother, he's a player and he's a.... demon slayer?? Okay, I don’t know about that last part but, you know, it might not be totally wrong.
Valen, you slippery eel - whenever I think I start to understand the gist of your character you slip right through my fingers again. Definitely big chaotic neutral energy though.

Not even at page 100 yet, but enjoying this so far which is kinda special with fantasy series. Valen's pretending to not be healing as fast as he is so he can make use of the monks goodwill - decides to become a monk too for the same reasons lol. Love that for him. Also, proceeds to fall ill again due to some mystery magic ailment which is kinda like his period: 'oh no it came 7 days earlier than usual!'

*cries in no progress* but!!! First chapter was banger! MC starts with nearly dying and getting robbed of his valuables by his friend? Now he's going to discover some nasty brotherhood secrets

It's that time of the year again where I only want to feel pain and hurt. I've heard good things about Berg's characters - she's as kind to them as Hobb.
