reading this issue as a lifelong Spider-Man fan i couldn't help but feel creeping dread that peter was staying in montreal so long because i know full well what happens in the next issue. for now though, it feels like nothing here was actually resolved. the man who had an urgent message for aunt may is dead and the hulk just exited stage left.

a bit disappointing that three full issues were dedicated to retelling a previously published story but it was well done at least. why did this have the dark knight ending kinda

As we all know, crime is bad. but richard raleigh dares to ask the revolutionary question: what if crime was REALLY bad? this is why we should vote him in as mayor (??) of new york city.

what's the vibe on aunt may? is she just easily manipulated? is this some kind of undetected early dementia? is she just stupid? because how do any of her choices and opinions make sense in the context of this story and world otherwise?

look I'll admit i scoffed when i saw the gibbon on the cover but absurd costume and concept aside he really served as an interesting example of a villain created due to a purely systemic failure built around the ostracization of people not conventionally attractive. also the foreshadowing on PAGE TWO??? crazy stuff iykyk
