Miss Crawford seems fake. She manipulates people thanks to her beauty but is she witty? No, she's very opinionated and looks down upon the Bertrams bc they live in the countryside while she's a big city woman

this book is making me think of howards end by em Forster a lot since the house and home and different classes and interactions between them are a focal point

no idea if I can finish this today. I'm still deciding whether fanny will have a change of heart or not, but I think she won't. though the other person involved still doesn't care about her the way she does

unbelievable that when the staff is around, aunt bitch treats fanny as if she were lower status than them and keeps on demeaning her spirits. glad than other than Edmund, sir Thomas also speaks to/of fanny with respect

You see fanny has no agency at all by the way Austen mostly used indirect speech to relay what she said and rarely makes her speak directly. The only times she speaks directly is with Edmund who again is the only one who sees her and is enraged for how his family and friends treat her and use her as a servant. I hope she can have her revenge

these people who think fanny is stupid just bc she grew up poor and couldn't have access to the kind of education they can, should just explode. only edmund seems to have an ounce of empathy and understanding toward fanny's situation. the girl is homesick. she might've been poor but she was happy in her poor house with her poor family! these things some people don't understand
