Give me a break, for goodness sake. What the hell is this situation. It is not even the ridiculousness of certain behavior but this book as a whole. The story. Just. Won't. Move. I know it is building up to the trivia night but with all due respect, it is building up very shittily. Very slowly. I just want to know why must I suffer for a story? There's no reward!!!!!!! For my patience and intrigue.

The way she is justifying it breaks my heart. You just know she has told herself all these things for years and years and actually believes it wasn't that bad and that man was right. It's even more heartbreaking bc she said yes at the start and that man took it as blanket permission to keep going even as she said no, no, no. Poor Jane :*(

It is so infuriating to see Abigail being snatched away from Madeline even as I know that's not the right expression to be used here but wow I'd be beyond myself if the kid I brought up all on MY OWN suddenly started to be this ungrateful selfish brat the moment her FATHER WHO ABANDONED HER entered the picture; Madeline is being too graceful. She should be allowed to kill!

The buildup being this slow actually takes AWAY from a story rather than making me more curious. I read to escape and to escape within a book that just won't fucking tell me what is going on is frankly disrespectful to me and my intellect.
