There’s something so eerie about how this is written. It’s not dramatic at all. It’s almost mundane. The voice is just narrating not living. And somehow that adds to it. I don’t know if that was intentional or not by Senécal but it makes the story all the more harrowing.

Have come back to this book after such a long break and now officially into part 2! All of Bruno’s scheming is to play out and I’m morbidly curious how terrible it will be. Hatred has truly consumed him, and I feel it’s going to be his undoing not just emotionally but every way. He plans but I think he’s getting messy too. But that’s what makes it feel all the more raw…
