I like how we’re building on the characters now. It’s hard reading the descriptions of the Romans and others who worship foreign gods or their own desires, with a lack of reverence for the One true God. There’s little romance so far but hints of attraction. I like how it references Haddassah’s internal wrestling with sharing the Gospel openly, it feels relatable.

Calabah and Primius are basically satan’s pawns on Julia’s shoulders, I hate it. Proud of Haddassah’s courage to share the gospel!! Torn that those she loves are not willing to accept Christ and she can’t love the man she loves because of it.

Heart-wrenching yet there’s hope for redemption. I feel every deep emotion Haddassah feels, and a longing for those she serves to have the fear of the Lord.

Now we’re getting somewhere!!
I will say, her transitions mid chapter aren’t always very clear. But overall I’m liking where the storyline is going!

I like how detailed the writing is, but I wish I was out of the character building and into the bigger plot. I’ll be patient though!

Incredibly detailed, I was heart-wrenched at Haddassah’s family dying and her lingering hope for survival amidst the Roman attacks. Atretes’ introduction was surprising, a German barbarian being taken captive by a Roman to eventually become a gladiator. The battle details didn’t captivate me as much as Haddassah’s story did. I’m eager to see where this goes.
