That was a cool battle and all and perhaps one of the more tactically sound.
Safe for the fact that that last bit could have been done at the very start and pretty much take out the leadership.
I don't know how they thought they'd beaten the sorcery when none was present so far.

Always great when storytelling makes you comment on shortfalls and mistakes and later on acknowledges these things in the plot and character arcs.
Love how everyone, both allied kingdoms and necromancers, are coming to grips through experience with the new realities of war with an indefatigable, mindless undead force that grows with every death.

I'm getting kind of frustrated with this. The world building is good, the dark power scary and the unique city states and their leaders are becoming compelling.
I like it and I'm invested but these sloppy inconsistencies are starting to crack my suspension of disbelief.

Alright, that was some seriously messy writing.
Switching between west-east mess up.
Inconsistently mistaking the Zendri oasis battle for Zandri.
A general sense of the author not being fully aware of the topography of the land.
This is especially glaring in contrast with the meticulous writing and planning going on with Harrow.

Weird. Describing the alliance of southern and eastern kings as western...
Also, making bronze with a copper-nickel alloy.
Otherwise, enjoying it, love the focus on the story and characters now and the involvement of the Druchi, tying back to the Darkblade series.

Definitley not as engaging as the Malus books, but nice.
Glad to have some story building now, I like Arkhan the incompetent general, but a succession of tactically questionable engagements was growing a bit stale. Want to see more of the -1900s IC timeline, dumping us into an era where Nagash has already accrued considerable power isn't very interesting plot wise.

Really cool to see the different cultures from the various cities and even including proto-arabians.

Feels so good to be finally reading more Lee.
Reading that he started this right after finishing the Darkblade series makes it more special.
I hope comes back to fantasy writing some day.
None of the characters so far feel as distinct and vivid as those in Darkblade but the plot setup is intriguing.
