the great american post modern novel. So full of love and so serious. "Laughter is more serious than tears". Focusing on the people of harlem, no on two specific people that even the snappy narrator has to admit she doesnt know anything about them. It uses Morrisons historical gaze in the most effective way

sooooo rewarding. its also way less complicated to get into on a second read (and also having read Beloved and SoS in the meantime) :)))) easily my fav of her tho

just an incredible narrative switch, super well written and captivating, a great additional story hidden deep in this novel!! aaa

i dont like the repetition of some phrases, it doesnt work that well i feel, but i guess it makes it sound more conversational, like someone talking

its goid but its a bit chaotic in an unintentional-seeming way sometimes, but that migjt be my lack if knowledge

generally reminds me of thw shivers skill in DE with its hopping around in the city; the flow is incredible and fluid with enough happenings to make it palpable, with the rare excenption of some odd tangent that looses me twmporarily
