coming back 9 hours later to say that i finished alchemised, wrote that review, tried to go about my day, and then 10 minutes later started crying. i just want to be clear that i was not being hyperbolic. i was useless all day today. i am going through something so unspeakable.

i'm honestly sitting here like, do i just have to swear off fantasy romance forever now because none of them are ever going to be as beautiful and haunting as that book was? is this what finally saves me?

Hallie wrote: "omg.......like do i need to pick it up right now"you may... i have to talk about it lmao. i will say that it is brutally dark and i was interested but still kind of unconvinced until i got to part two, but idk this set a new standard for me. it is a true experience. it is absolutely impossible to guess the course the book takes when you read the few first hundred pages. the themes of war, memory, and history are really harrowing and beautifully done. it was just a great, well told story. also helena marino world's best girl, the thought of her makes me want to cry.
