Utterly compelling, thought-provoking courtroom drama, as the mother dies through the trial of the young man accused of murdering her son, a man who shows no remorse, and is about to take the stand, even though he does not have to.
"Why would he do that?"
"He thinks the case is in the bag and he's showing off."
It's all about the show.

A mother loses her only child, a 16 yr old boy, in a fatal stabbing. Now she is at the Old Bailey listening to the trial, judging the other young man and his mother. The father(s) absent.
I've decided to read this alongside 2 other novels, Mother to Mother by Sindiwe Magona (Sth Africa) and The Mothers by Brit Bennett (US) which look at similar themes.
All 3 authors I've previously read, all excellent reads.
