The author describes well the systemic racism in European colonialism against Black and Native American populations under the guise of "civilizing" them. But I’m wanting her to examine the contradiction between colonizers' self-image and their actions. European powers claimed to bring civilization and enlightenment, but their culture involved violence, exploitation, and cultural erasure. They’re not civilized.
