Cop out. Alice spent the entire book so careful of language and then said “for one, a way out.” while technically insinuating it was for her and Peter but not clearly stating it. “First, a way out” would have been fine. But that bit what she said. Gosh, I wanted them to get to the final threshold and Peter to not be allowed to cross cus she wasn’t careful enough with her word choices while bargaining.

I know exactly when the other shoe is gonna drop and I know the exact two word moment that got us here and I think it I was more invested in the romance I’d be livid but as it is I’m just pleased with the wink at all the underworld journey stories that have come before this.

Okay the logic problems and philosophy are starting to wear on me. The magic system keeps us at arms length from the action and I don’t love that. But I am a huge fan of the feral reaction to blood and guts and the magic enhancing stimulants lol

I love the steam of consciousness/hyperactivity of Alice’s thoughts. Shes constantly self analyzing or looking for patterns in her own experiences or with texts shes read/papers she’s researched. And it happens in real time as the plot progresses. I see why it would be off putting for some but I’m so at home in this brain.

It is time.
Also, not even a minute in an already a massive slam on Orpheus out of nowhere.
