Well this book is banging so far. Fatal desire, an obsession for destiny, self hatred...these themes combined with a slick prose style, Giovanni's Room is already a winner in my book. I had to stop to reread the section on the Garden of Eden because I was so mesmerized by its insight and its stylish delivery. And I'm only 30 pages in!

I wish I could think with the same clarity that James Baldwin writes because life then would be easier.
