He argues that the concept of 'community' has been lost in the modern day, and that the modern man has to outsource his productivity. Rather than asking the community for assistance, in the case of parenting, or 'figuring it out', he outsources. This outsourcing serves, not to assist him, but to validate what he is already doing or so that he can attach his own practice to the names of prominent people in the field he outsources to.
