This is really good mystery/thriller with lots of interesting characters it's just SOOOO LONG! The book is almost 600 pages and the audio is almost 22 hrs. I have speed it up as with the southern accents they talk too slow. I hesitated to start this book but since it was recommended by friends I am buckling down and listening but it will take me a week to get through it. Set mostly in New Orleans.

Power crazed villain wants to be mayor, wants to kill his 3rd wife (hey he got away with it before) and a young man who was witness to one of his crimes in the days when he was a thug. That was before his plastic surgery and his cleaned up (on the surface) life of crime. He wines and dines the movers and shakers and has many of the police in his back pocket. Now he thinks chef Gabe needs to go too.

This is getting a lot better thankfully as it is a LONG book. Molly the P.I. is assigned to case to find out who killed Gabe the chef's retired police officer father and set it up to look like suicide. Immediately they are being followed and chapters from the mystery villain give us a glimpse into his power crazy ambitions.

So far not feeling this book. It is kind of gritty and slow with a mystery, murder and introductions to the new characters. It is obvious the corrupt cops are running the show but which ones and what is the secret?
