the idea is there but the writing is not very good. the author is convinced her book isn’t doing as well because people don’t like dark gothic things which is not only wrong but an odd thing to say

I’m trying so hard to be fair since this is obviously a story that means a lot to the author, but the rage is too much to make sense of anything. The story is meant to take place in an (albeit fictional) ancient Greek-style setting and yet the mother is going to make pies from CANNED pumpkin? And the mean we’re getting “hammered”, it’s just a lack of care on the authors behalf
