Don't mind the pace. There's a little one whose attention span is quite short at this stage of attempting to establish bedtime habits with this book.

While I was aware there was a fantastical element in this book, I was expecting the magical realism to be more along the lines of what Castaways of the Flying Dutchman was as opposed to what went down. And I'm not yet sure how I feel about it.

This book is very strange in the actions and decisions the characters are making. But perhaps that's a common thing in children's books? Just strange events and actions that goes without much forethought.

At no point was there any indication that this is taking place around Christmas in the previews. Does this makes it a Christmas book? To be determined because it doesn't seem to be a central theme despite everything.
