Brandon knows how to write realistic interactions but he also confuses you because sometimes they would talk about stuff that it's in the lore of this world that I completely forgot about and it's hard to follow. Wayne's pov is also hard to follow on purpose bc it mirrors how apparently all over the place he may seem ... But there's method in his madness
