I have a friend who used to date a woman like this. He was literally always apologizing to her for everything, all the time, even if it was something done by someone else. It was super tiring just hearing him talking to her. This book is exhausting.

I am already so annoyed about this door locking from the outside. She was just handed a key and then said to herself that wouldn't helped if she was locked in???? What is this magical lock that has a key on the outside yet locks the person inside? I am so confused by how this works. If there is a keyhole on the OUTIIDE of the door, the lock mechanism can be opened from the inside...
