there’s something so painful about Carl being a child of abuse. in the scene we’re Mordecai smacks him his trigger response is shown so well. first instinct - it wasn’t that painful, i’ve been hit a lot worse. second thought - don’t touch me ever again. i’m not a kid anymore. i can fight back now.
