The ending of chapter 7 is just a kid dreaming, wishing she's important and it's chilling to read something so raw and real.

Amcaları Julian ile Constance'ın konuşması o kadar gerçekçiydi ki okurken nefes bile almadım.

"I was going to have to say something. Constance was not looking at me, but only at Helen Clarke"

I love how the fences represent both the family’s isolation and the villagers’ perception that the Blackwoods see themselves as above everyone else. Great symbolism for setting the atmosphere.

I totally get how being cut off from everyone, not just on your own but as a whole family, can mess with your head and make you paranoid. The way Merricat’s eighteen but acts and thinks like she’s eight really shows how isolation can stunt your growth.
What’s even more amazing is that the author can convey all of this in just fifteen pages. I already liked this book.
