We know exactly where she is at all times. She’s carrying her cell in her purse & we track that. She also has a tracker in her arm & we can monitor that on an app on our cell phones too. Not to mention we have night vision lenses in our masks.
The hot little cheerleader belongs to us & there is no way we would ever let her go.

I stand in the darkness and watch her. She is struggling with the ropes around her wrists and I can feel the anxiety in her from here. I fight the urge to go to her and tell her everything is okay.
Five minutes. That’s how long I need to leave her there. It gives everyone else time to get back and pretend like we were never out here.

From here, it looks pretty eerie — four disembodied heads floating through the night toward me. They stop on the decking, standing beside each other in a line. It’s only once they are still that I can clearly see them. They are dressed entirely in black, except for their faces. Each of them wears an illuminated Halloween mask.
