“He’d only embarrassed himself in the Hunger Games, not a nationwide war.”

Coriolanus, a product of propaganda, unaware that the hunger games IS the continuation of the nationwide war.

“He was trapped like a bird”

We’re first presented with the binary songbird and snake, eluded by the forced relationship between Coriolanus & Lucy Gray, when in fact he is much as the song bird as she is. Even as a Capitol born boy, he is not excluded from the control of the Capitol’s agenda. This line really redefines who is the songbird and snake, respectively everyone else vs the Capitol’s government.

I’m so fascinated by others’ reaction to this supposed “love” between Coriolanus and Lucy Gray. I think that it’s obvious that it’s a deeper allegory of how the themes of “control,” “dominance,” and “power” have been deeply embedded, deeply instilled in the capitol and its people.

“It means, we’re all in the arena together”
