Terrence Morton’s Reviews > The Unwomanly Face of War: An Oral History of Women in World War II > Status Update

Very readable, the translation captures the voice of the various oral accounts which Alexievich gathered. The first hand accounts of women, most very young, thrown into war are harrowing, heartening, and challenge my notions of the soldiers that fought in the Cruel War.
I am only more excited to read Zinky Boys by Alexievich following this one.
