Can't believe I made it this far, but I just can't do it anymore. This is the end for my relationship with this book

I think I speak for everyone when I say "what is actually even happening???"

Chapter 29 + 30 - DiStephan has been dead the whole time, Astrid tries to suicide although the reasons why are unclear because she feels absolutely nothing at any time ever. DiStephan's ghostly spirit yells at her and she argues with him. I continue to wonder why I keep reading.

Chapter 27 - several weeks have gone by since Astrid's arm was eaten, because we don't want to get into all that. Apparently she has been harboured by dragons this whole time but we don't get to see that. Taddeo tells her she has to leave now because she is healed enough, and to take some poison drugs so she can find DiStephan again. He gives us a history lesson of Tower Island. Astrid is mad at him for being a liar

Chapter 26 - Norah the Dying Dragon in Human Form bites Astrid's hand. Astrid passes out and dreams something so nonsensical I cannot describe it. Later in the dream, Astrid bites off Norah's finger and eats it, and it tastes yummy. She wakes up to find Norah has eaten her entire arm. She has no discernible reaction to this whatsoever. Taddeo continues to act weird.

Through the power of plot convenience, Astrid dreams about a cat who tells her Taddeo's tea. When she wakes up she is with naked Taddeo and naked Norah, who just so happens to be the dragon who tried to eat Astrid as a kid. Also Norah is turning into a rock and is dying. No one knows where DiStephan is and Astrid conveniently forgets to care

If Astrid were any more laid back about what is happening to her she would be fucking horizontal. Also is anyone ever going to explain what is actually going on right now? Why are we halfway through this book without knowing the plot?
