I’m really enjoying it so far. Some takeaways are: when unwanted thoughts into your brain while being mindful simply acknowledge them as they are and move on. Also counting while breathing during meditation is a good way to begin focusing when you are first starting out. I practiced this morning and it went very well being that I haven’t meditated in a while.

The author spoke about walking with a friend and how beneficial it can be to be mindful, if both friends are being mindful at the same time however still maintaining mindfulness when the friend wants to speak rather than feeling frustration that they will not be quiet. I thought that was very powerful and a good lesson in patience and reframing the mindset. I also really enjoyed the explanation of correct breathing.

The author explains a story about talking to his friend about family life. His friend talks about reframing the time he spends with his family. rather than thinking about the time spent with others as fractions of his own time, while the remainder is time for him, he reconsiders how to make all of his time “his own time” including that which he spends with his family from fractions
