In the beginning of the book, Gus is a senior in high school. She is dating a boy named Fish (James), who has gone away to college and they start to struggle with long distance. Gus meets a boy named Reed and starts to catch feelings for him when she knows it is wrong. “Reed is staring at me… He mouths back, ‘Let’s go.’ Flutters again. That has to stop”(63).

Gus now likes Reed. She has been internally struggling with who she wants to be as an individual and she is struggling to pick between Fish or Reed. During all of this chaos, Gus tends to look back to the way things used to be. The author states, "I open my yearbook until I find the photo. I know that girl. I am that girl. I would do anything for her, to be her again" (274). In the end, I think she will choose Reed.

Hi Brooke! I think this book seems really captivating. I like romance books, so I think I would enjoy reading this book. I wonder if Gus will end up falling for Reed or stay with James. Who do you hope she ends up with?
