Did the author write this when they were 16 years old? Because it really seems like they wrote this when they were 16 years old. This is a 16 year old, talking about a grown ass man leaving her "at the dance" ... like, what? It's increasingly hard to suspend disbelief. And are we supposed to give him kudos that he's trying "not to give in." No! Fuck no, NO KUDOS! She's 16! That's fucking gross!!! Legit nauseating.

We're like halfway through and stuff is /just/ now starting to happen.
And what is with the bad stereotype best friend? It's so awkward and so obvious it's a white person trying to practice or mimic AAVE, it's honestly weird as hell. It gives me the ick.
The main character is also stupid af and I can't stand it. Nobody is this stupid.
