Our struggling little book club is about ready to pull the plug on this one. You know some years every book is a new favorite or you find new aspects to admire in an old favorite. Then there months-long bad reader streaks, like the one I'm having all this year, where you start to understand why most people don't bother with books at all.

We got a new addition to our (mostly) Russian history book club and the first thing they pick is a 900 page novel from 1880. That was right when the wave of pogroms were beginning. So I am really finding it difficult to roll with all the antisemitic stuff.
