This whole chapter with Lidia’s journey reminded me of Sarah’s talent at writing the most incredible heart-racing scenes. I feel like I’m not a huge fan of how this story is wrapping up but I love her story arc. She is my favorite character.

“No other temples ever depicted the god-dess, no one even dared-most people claimed that fate was impossible to portray in any one form. But it seemed that the dead, unlike the living, had a vision of her. And those symbols running from the bowl onto her skin…they were like tattoos.”
Makes me think they are referencing Feyre or Nesta.

What is wrong with Bryce? I suppose she doesn’t know who Azriel and Nesta are like the readers of ACOTAR do and I guess they locked her up immediately, but these scenes are written so strangely like one second they’re getting along and the next they’re fighting or she’s trying to kill them. Her actions are just bizarre and they keep letting her off the hook. It’s annoying to read.

I love the ACOTAR and CC worlds colliding but this scene seemed a bit disappointing to be honest. I don’t love how Bryce dumbs everything down when she speaks. Maybe it’s to show how she thinks these people from ages ago are a but weird but it’s not written well. The wyrm scene was disappointing too. It was supposed to be an epic moment but fell flat.

The descriptions of the ancient fae art that Bryce sees in the tunnels reminds me a lot of the Norse mythology I’ve been reading. The idea that even in paradise, death and evil remain. “Memento mori” is a theme throughout the whole series. “A reminder that death was always, always waiting.”
