36 pages in already so eye opening and upsetting. I’ve always known generally that the US government provided aid to some really bad governments during the Cold War, but this opening section on El Salvador is truly horrific. Some of the most disturbing stuff I’ve ever read and we are never taught about it or forced to acknowledge our government’s role in it.
