I like it when a child sees their mother as a person, realising that they were wrong to see them as a workhorse to begin with.

I read a chapter at a time here because I can't stomach more than that of the MC

I don't know why I keep reading... I'm suspecting it's the cat character holding my interest. She sounds so embarrassing and it's not because she is "plus size" as she says... She does cringey things because she is ashamed of her own physique.

The figures of speech in this book are cringe and if they are meant to be funny...well... I'm not laughing, so I must not be the target audience. It all sounds so inane at this point... The writer sounds like they were trying very hard to be humourous.

I almost DNF'D this coz there's a part where this FMC talks about having their fly open and I was confused as to whether I was listening to the thoughts of a man or a woman. It's so crude to speak like that and I was in doubt as to why I'd had the impression the MC was a woman but it turns out this was not an error, she is just unrefined and unsophisticated.

Decided to cleanse my palate with a murder mystery to douse the bad taste of that romance...
